The Second Chance Theatre Project

MORE THAN MY CRIME

The overarching objective of the Second Chance Theatre Project is to work with formerly incarcerated and incarcerated individuals, and with organisations with the mutual focus on developing organisational and individual capacity, and social reintegration. The overall approach will be to foster social health and wellbeing through programmes that are offered in correctional facilities, communities and schools. The project seeks to affirm the dignity of the participants and their communities.

The programmes for the Second Chance Theatre Project involve using theatre processes and productions as a medium to develop individual participants’ capabilities and foster community relationships. The work will involve theatrical interventions on the theme of criminal and social justice. This part of the Project’s work will involve job creation for former offenders and artists.

The Project will network with and seek partnerships with organisations and institutions in order to enhance the capacity of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals and at-risk communities.
